Salkantay - Machu Picchu 5 Days / 4 Nights

The snowy peak of Salkantay (6372m) has been considered a sacred mountain from the time of the Inkas, and so the trails surrounding Salkantay are also Inka trails. In this walk you can appreciate the surrounding glacial walls. The hike begins in the friendly town of Mollepara.

As you are walking up the trail, the snow peaks appear in the valley. The first to appear is Humantay and then later the impressive snowy peak of Salkantay. The hike ends on the other side of the mountains in the tropical valley of the River Vilcanota, near MachuPicchu.
