Visit the Island of the Sun to see the sacred Pilcocaina Ruins and walk along the ancient stone steps of the Yumani Stairway, and tour the ancient and modern pilgrimage sites of Calvary and the Sanctuary in Copacabana.
We pick you up at your hostel or hotel La Paz between 7:30 am to 8:00 in the morning and depart by bus to the city of Copacabana. The trip lasts approximately 3 ½ Amenities Be sure to enjoy stunning views of the Cordillera of the Andes, or the Cordillera Real.
We will arrive to Copacabana at around 12:00 hours, we will accommodate at the hotel and enjoy our lunch. To 1:30 pm, we will go on board a boat that is shared by the waters of Lake Titicaca, has not only the area, but it is also the highest navigable lake in the world. You will have an hour and a half for enjoying the views and the diversity of the lake Titicaca before arriving to the island of the sun.
On the island we will have a small walk 20 minutes to the ruins of the Archaeological Complex Pilcocaina. In this mysterious place the Incas worshipped deity, its maximum Inti, the sun god. After touring Pilcocaina,we will follow the same path that the Incas were walking, we will descend by the stone staircase Yumani to the Fountain of Youth.
At 4:30 pm we will embark to return to Copacabana, where we will arrive to 6:00 pm to have our dinner and a free night.
After breakfast we'll begin a two hour walking city tour of Copacabana. Our first stop will be the popular pilgrimage site of the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Copacabana.
Afterwards we'll ascend to the Calvary, where the Bolivian Yatiris performed different rituals in search of health, love, money, and protection for themselves and their families.
We'll stop for lunch at midday before catching the 1:30pm bus back to La Paz.
