Spend a full day in Lake Titicaca, traveling through the history and culture of the islands located on the Peruvian side of the lake. During this excursion we will first pass by the Floating Islands of the Uros where we will learn how these islands are made and maintained. Afterwards we'll explore the island of Taquile, where we will see how the local inhabitants keep their traditional costumes and their traditional way of life away from technology.
The tour begins with a pick up from your hotel, leaving the port of Puno at 7:30 in the morning in a motor boat. After an approximately of 30 minutes through the bay of Puno, we will arrive at the Floating Islands of the Uros, where we will visit 2 of these artificial islands, each inhabited by an Aymara speaking family, who build and maintain their island and their houses With totora. The guide with a local family will explain the history and traditions of the Uros for about an hour. Do not forget to bring your passport if you want a stamp on it as a souvenir of this visit.
Then, we will embark again the same boat and continue until the Island of Taquile, where we will have a hike of approximately half an hour until reaching the 3950 masl. In this tour we will visit the city, stopping in the center where we will find craft centers and various cultural exhibition halls. Then we will have lunch in a family home where we will learn about their daily lives. We will end our visit with a descent down the opposite side of the island, through stone steps that will take us to the place where our boat will be waiting, to take us back to Puno and then to your hotel approximately at 5:00 p.m.
