Cross the picturesque waters of Lake Titicaca to visit ancient ruins on the sacred Island of the Sun, where the Incas traced their mythical origins.
You'll be picked up at your hostel or hotel in La Paz between 7:30am and 8:00am and we'll depart for Copacabana by tourist-class bus. Along the way you'll enjoy views of the Andean Cordillera Real (Spanish for the Royal Range). The trip takes about three and a half hours, so we'll arrive in Copacana at 12:00.
After lunch, at 1:30pm, we'll set off by boat through the waters of massive Lake Titicaca towards the southern part of Sun Island. You'll have an hour and a half to enjoy the world's highest navigable lake before arriving at the island.
Upon our arrival to Sun Island we'll have a short 20 minute hike to the ruins of Pilcocaina Archeological Center, where once the Incas performed ceremonies rendering cult to the Sun God.
From there we'll continue down the Yumani Stairway, following the same path the Incas walked to arrive at the Fountain of Youth.
At 4:30pm we'll begin the return trip through the lake back to Copacabana, where upon arriving at 6:00pm we'll catch a bus back to the city of La Paz.
