Cusco City Tour

This program offers you the possibility to know the most important tourist attractions the city of Cusco and enjoy the breath-taking city with a living culture.

You will visit the Cathedral that is impressive for its architecture and the paintings from the Cuzco school. You will also visit The Temple of the Sun known as Koricancha or Qoricancha, this enclosure was one of the most important buildings in the Incas time and it was built in honor of the Sun God (Inti).

Lastly you are going to head outside the city to visit the archaeological circuit of Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay.

Itinerary of Cusco City Tour

City tour Cusco

We will pick you up from your hotel around 1:00pm and meet up with the rest of the group. The city tour will start at Cathedral that is located at the Main Square – “Plaza de Armas”, it was built on the Inca Palace known as “Sunturwasi” in more than 100 years with huge stone blocks brought from Sacsayhuaman. It is the most beautiful and impressive church in Peru, it has; an important collection of paintings from the Cusquenian School , splendid altars like the pulpit and choir made of both Renaissance and Baroque style.

The tour continues with a visit to the Qoricancha where you can see the differences between Inca and Spaniards architecture. It was the main and most important religious site of the Incas and you can see smaller temples dedicated to the sun, moon, stars, etc. inside the temple.

Continuing on, we will head outside the city to visit the 4 archaeological circuits:

Saqsaywaman, here you can see an amazing architectural works made with huge stones.

Qenqo, was dedicated to religious rituals and it has a subterranean passageways.

Pucapucara, this complex was built for military purposes, to protect the city of Cusco.

Tambomachay, was a temple for water. In this place you can see waterfalls, canals and aqueducts made of stone that are still fully operational.

The tour finishes at approximately 6:30pm when we arrive back in Cusco city.

Recommendations

  • The altitude of Cusco is above 3400m.a.s.l. or 11150f.a.s.l. and is provably that you have fatigue or headache. We suggest you dink coca tea.
  • The rainy season is from October to March
  • The Partial ticket  I or Circuit I- Saqsayhuaman (BTC – Tourist Ticket)
