Itinerary of Tour to Sillustani Ruins

Itinerary

In this tour we will pick you up from your hotel around 2:00 p.m. in a trip of approximately 40 minutes, in which we will stop at a viewpoint where you can see Puno from the height . Upon arrival we will take an hour and a half ride in the Sillustani complex with a guide.

The famous Chullpas are towers constructed in stone that were used by diverse cultures, among them the collas and later by the Incas. The chullpa of the Lizard stands out for being the highest of site, reaching more than 12 meters of height.

In the vicinity you can see some waru waru, which are artificial earth mounds designed to protect crops against frosts and floods. With luck in Sillustani you can also observe wild pigs of the Indies, birds like flamingos and other wild animals of the high Andes.

At the end of the tour we will see Lake Umayo, which is located in front of the archaeological zone. There are several legends about the origin of this lake that we will be told by the guide once we are there. In its central part it has a peculiar flat island in the top that nowadays is a reserve of vicunas.

On the way back we will stop at a local house where we can see the way of life in the area, try typical foods and take pictures with the llamas and the alpacas of the families. Then we will arrive to Puno at 6:00 pm and we will take you back to your hotel.
